Portland’s Original Iron Bartender Competition is a benefit for The Giving Tree »
December 1st at The Radio Room, three bartenders will go head to head (to head!) during three 6-minute rounds. A different secret ingredient is revealed at the beginning of each round, and the contestants must use that ingredient to create an original cocktail. 9 cocktails in all will be created during the event, and the judges score them based taste, presentation, and originality. The bartender with the highest score wins the title of Iron Bartender!
We are pleased as punch to announce the Iron Bartender 2012 WINNER: David Shenaut from Raven & Rose! Congratulations, David!
Thank you to everyone who liked their favorite for the win here on Facebook and came out and voted last night! After all was said and done, the People's Choice Award went to Erica Namare from 23Hoyt! Congratulations Erica!

Our competitors are gearing up for a fierce battle!
Erica has been behind the bar for over thirteen years shaking, smashing, smoking, foaming, aging, infusing, and building libations for thirsty patrons. She has always been drawn to drink-slinging for the endless outlet of creativity, and thrives in the action and energy of composing an experience over the bar top. When not crafting fresh, balanced cocktails at 23Hoyt, she’s gearing up motorcycle enthusiasts at MotoCorsa, performing as a Parkour-ing werewolf, torturing her roommate with her attempts at banjo greatness, doubling as a Ducati riding "Hundjager #3", and searching for the elusive non-dairy sundae.

Mindy has been tending bar for 10 years, making craft cocktails for 5. She is originally from Houston, TX where she worked at a high volume cocktail bar called Anvil Bar and Refuge. She moved to Portland just over a year ago and is now the lead bartender and water goddess at Hale Pele, a tiki bar in NE PDX. She has two crazy cats named Dwight Meowkum and Elvis Purrsley. She loves what she does.

Raven and Rose
A founding member of the Oregon Bartenders Guild, David’s poured a drink (or two thousand) at Teardrop, the Rum Club, and Kask, and currently spends his days on an elegant project at Raven & Rose – a farmhouse cookery and fine cocktail bar embodied in Portland’s Historic Ladd Carriage House. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of cocktails, and likes long walks on the beach, midnight dance parties, laybacks, and blue blender drinks. Also, he looks really high-toned in suspenders and a Goorin Brothers hat.

There are two different prize packages up for grabs for the competitors:
Iron Bartender has a reputation for amazing prize packages, and this year will be no different!
When you vote for your favorite competitor, your voting card goes into a drawing for a prize package valued at $370!
This is a charity event. You can get your buzz on, win stuff, AND do a good deed, all in one night!
If your dream is to be a judge at this event, you can tip the odds in your favor by donating big! For every $10 you give through the Willamette Week’s Give! Guide, your name goes into a drawing to win a seat at the Judge’s Bar. $100 = 10 times entered.
